I love this meat loaf recipe because the tangy sauce pairs really well with the beef, and the meat loaf texture is not like the soggy, bland ones I’ve been used to in the past. Highly requested once people try it. I’ve included the recipe below with a few adjustments. Original recipe is from here.

  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Onion and garlic powder
  • Chopped onion (1/2 to 1 onion)
  • 2/3 ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dijon mustard
  • Worchestershire sauce

Combine egg, garlic/onion powder, milk, cheese, oats, salt, onion. Wait a few minutes before adding meat to prevent it from getting soggy. Add ground beef. Mix well.

Combine ketchup, worchestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread over meat loaf.

Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 45 minute. I like to dump out the excess fat and then bake another 20 minutes.

Tastes awesome with rice or potato salad.
