Green beans

Green beans

I used this recipe with a few changes, like increasing a few ingredients, and adding sugar & oyster sauce.

  • 2 lbs green beans
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3-6 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tsp chili garlic sauce (didn’t turn out very spicy, would increase by a lot more if spicy is desired)
  • 2 tsp honey
  • few tsp of brown sugar if more sweetness desired to balance out the saltiness
  • 1 tbsp oil

I brought a pot of water to a boil, added in the washed/cut green beans, waited for it to come back up to a boil again, waited maybe another minute or two, and then dumped them into a colander while spraying cool water onto them before transferring them to a ice/water bath. Sauteed the garlic in oil for some seconds and dumped in the dried green beans, cooking them for a few minutes. Then I added in the sauce mixture and cooked everything for a few minutes more until the beans were tender and the sauce was a little evaporated. When I took out the green beans, I left the liquidy sauce in the pan and added a little bit of cornstarch to thicken it up, so I could add in the green beans again and coat them in the sauce.

They taste pretty good hot or cold, although it helps if you’re a fan of green beans to begin with 😛
