Cooking the pork

The recipe from YouTube’s Maangchi is tried & true and never fails me.

All the ingredients to dig in!

Maangchi’s recipe below with a few of my modifications. I usually double the recipe since everyone usually loves this dish!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound meat (I prefer pork tenderloin or chicken thighs)
  • ¼ cup hot pepper paste (gochujang)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot pepper flakes (gochu-garu)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon  sesame oil
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 medium size onion, sliced
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  1. Medium-hi heat, cook garlic, onions, ginger.
  2. Add meat and cook until halfway cooked through.
  3. Add hot pepper paste, soy sauce, sugar, hot pepper flakes, black pepper, and sesame oil.
  4. Cook maybe another 10-15 min until thoroughly cooked and sauce has thickened.
  5. Serve with steamed rice and greens (lettuce or perilla leaves, etc)
